She is the Secretary General World Organization for Family Physicians (WONCA) Africa Region 2018-2020, and Vice-Chair Kenya Association of Family Physicians. Prior to that she had served as the President of the Young Family Doctors in Sub-Sahara Africa 2016-2018. She is an honorary lecturer at the Department of Family Medicine Kabarak University, Nakuru.
She started her medical career as a clinical officer, and later undertook her bachelor of Medicine and Surgery undergraduate studies in Tanzania. She briefly worked in Nakuru and later pursued a Masters in Medicine Family Medicine and graduated as one of the First Kenyan Trained female Family Physicians form Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya.
She recently was appointed board member Kenya Nutrition and Dietetics Institute (KNDI) Dr. Mugambi is the Africa Director Comprehensive Advanced Life Support for Rural which offers advanced emergency medicine skills for rural practitioners. She is an Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Trainer of Trainer.
